I am proud to be a newly minted social worker! Working within social institutions such as schools and hospitals has taught me the importance of flexibility. Advocating for others means abandoning even the most perfectly crafted plans if they don’t fit. People need to feel empowered to be agents of their own solution. That starts with listening. Letting go of my agenda and meeting someone where they are has made all the difference in finding lasting solutions and building trusting relationships. I bring to counseling relevant life experience as a former classroom teacher and union activist as well as knowledge from my current roles as Reiki practitioner, and meditation coach.
My approach
Familial and cultural conditioning often casts us into one-dimensional roles we cling to for emotional survival. Unconsciously, we find ourselves falling into familiar patterns even when they may undermine our hopes and dreams. Viewing the self as a network of differing parts that can often be in conflict with one another, rather than a monomind has been integral to my own healing. Addressing these roles individually is the key to releasing them of held burdens and past hurts. I believe that everyone is capable of growth and change if given a safe space to do it.
